  1. Will there be affordable housing provision?

    Brookleigh will be a community focused development that meets the housing needs of local people. At least 30% of every phase of homes at Brookleigh will be affordable housing. Of the 460 homes that Countryside properties are constructing, 237 will be affordable and delivered alongside Sage Housing.

    The first homes, all of which are affordable housing, are expected to be ready for people to move in by late summer this year. The homes will range from one-bedroom apartments to four-bedroom family homes, including properties for those aged 55 plus and fully wheelchair-accessible homes. There will be a mixture of homes for rent and for shared ownership (part-buy, part-rent).

  2. What type of community facilities will be available?

    The diverse range of facilities at the parks will include allotments, a community orchard, play areas for young children, a Multi-Use Games Area and cycle parking. All the parks will be designed to settle into the existing mature landscape of Brookleigh , diversifying the range of tree species present, safeguarding habitats and continuing wildlife corridors, and providing targeted habitat creation for protected species. Each of the parks has a distinct identity to reflect the character of the local area in which it is located.

    The first park to be constructed will be the Eastern Neighbourhood Park, with plans for a developer to be appointed in Spring 2021 . At sensitive areas of habitat such as the extension to Bedelands nature reserve and the areas of ancient woodland, public access will be provided which is sympathetic to the needs of the area, allowing local enjoyment of the natural spaces while minimising the risk of disturbance to wildlife.

    With regard to sport facilities, a Centre for Outdoor Sport will be located at the western section of Brookleigh It will include approximately 9 hectares of outdoor sports pitches, as well as supporting facilities to complement existing provision at the nearby Triangle Leisure Centre.
