07 - Green links

The Green Links are a combination of on and off road highway walking and cycling improvements including to the town’s parks and open spaces and Green Circle to the south of the town, and at Wivelsfield Station. These upgrades link key locations in the town together and support the aspirations of the Burgess Hill Townwide Strategy and Neighbourhood Plan.

The Green Links tie in with existing and proposed infrastructure to be delivered through the Place and Connectivity Programme including ‘mobility corridor’ walking and cycling improvements, scheduled for delivery by the Brookleigh (Northern Arc) development.

  • The remaining Phase 1 works are due for completion Spring 2023
  • Green Circle improvements
  • Parks and open spaces
  • Wivelsfield Station Access and Connectivity Scheme

Further improvements across the town are planned, subject to public engagement.

The improvement scheme was subject to public engagement May – June 2020. Details can be found here.

Better Links To Your Town Centre

The £21.8m package of transport improvements for the town centre will help create more sustainable transport measures, improve connectivity, congestion and journey times. This will include improved access arrangements for Burgess Hill and Wivelsfield train stations as well as new and improved cycle routes across town.

Upgrading Road Infrastructure

A £23m investment into the A2300 will help drive forward the new high-tech corridor of business park developments by widening and upgrading this main access route into Burgess Hill from the A23. These improvements will help relieve congestion and also help provide a better onward link to the wider south east region.
