Have you tried the Brookleigh buses yet?

More and more people are getting on board Brookleigh's new bus services.

Since launching in May 2026, the 38 and 38 Flex have been helping people travel in and around Brookleigh and connecting people quickly and easily to Burgess Hill.

Homes England provided the initial funding as part of its contribution to wider social benefits under the Transport Strategy.

Passenger numbers are continuing to grow. July was the busiest month so far, with 541 passenger journeys, up from 442 in June.

If you haven't tried the buses yet, there are two ways to travel.

The 38 timetabled service runs Monday to Saturday, with 13 trips each day – six during the morning peak and seven during the afternoon peak. There are also journeys on school days, with the school service extended to serve The Triangle.

For journeys outside the main timetable, there's the 38 Flex. This on-demand service operates off-peak from 10am-3pm, Monday to Saturday, as well as during the day on Sundays and public holidays.

How does the 38 Flex work?

The 38 Flex lets you book a journey when you need it, either on demand or up to two days in advance, using the Brookleigh 38 Flex app.

And you don't need to live in Brookleigh or Burgess Hill to use it, but journeys do need to start or finish in Brookleigh or at The Arc Centre for Sports.

The Arc is included in the 38 Flex zone, so passengers can book a journey to or from the bus stops along West End Farm Avenue to access the centre.

Most journeys are currently being made on the timetabled 38, but the 38 Flex offers another useful option, particularly for off-peak trips and travel on Sundays.

So, next time you're planning a journey in or around Brookleigh, take a look at the 38 timetable. And if the timetable doesn't quite fit your plans, 38 Flex could be just the ticket.
